Administration
Administration interns work with Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word and Publisher. Interns will be responsible for designing and developing a monthly intern newsletter as well as designing publisher documents for use throughout the facility. This position will be responsible for setting up a "Day of Tours" of other health and fitness facilities in Dallas. Daily activities include reviewing and responding to email and returning prospective intern phone calls. Reporting to the fitness director and managing director. Interns will also be expected to cross-train in other departments.

Aquatics
Aquatic interns will be responsible for assisting in marketing efforts for aquatic programs as well as shadowing aquatic group exercise instructors and swim coaches. Daily activities include providing customer service via email and telephone, in-person communications with members and potential members and performing basic clerical duties. Aquatic interns report to the aquatic director. Aquatic interns must be familiar with Microsoft Excel, Word and Publisher. Interns will also be expected to cross-train in other departments.

Cardiac Rehabilitation
The cardiac rehabilitation program provides patients with a number of services such as:
  • Cardiac telemetry monitored exercise
  • Behavior modification and educational instruction
  • Exercise tolerance testing
  • Leap for Life™
Interns will develop skills that include Interpreting ECG's, measuring resting/exercise blood pressures, instructing clients about exercise equipment, writing exercise prescriptions, learning all crash cart supplies and locations, performing cholesterol and glucose tests, and observing and performing exercise tolerance tests. Interns will also be expected to cross-train in other departments.

Marketing and Sales
This department markets the programs and services of the Baylor Tom Landry Fitness Center, and educates prospective corporate and community clients as to the benefits of membership.

Interns can expect to be involved in membership marketing, individual program marketing, service line marketing, corporate marketing events, community marketing events, membership sales, planning and implementation of various campaigns, and the day-to-day operations of the Marketing and Sales Department. Interns will also be expected to cross-train in other departments.

Exercise Science
Interns in the Strength and Conditioning department will be involved in many activities, including floor coverage of the cardiovascular and weight room, shadowing of personal trainers, researching material for an ongoing lecture series, attend meetings, and complete supervisor-designed projects. The various daily tasks consist of checking and delivering mail to personal trainers, conducting phone calls and assisting other departments/interns with projects. Interns will also be expected to cross-train in other departments.
